America’s Strategic Imperative: A ‘Marshall Plan’ for Ukraine

The Ukraine Freedom Support Act could be a watershed in the conflict in Ukraine that has pitted a resurgent Russia against the West. Its bipartisan passage in a deeply divided Congress is explicit recognition by the representatives of the American people of the sacrifices made by Ukrainians in overthrowing a tyrant and in defending themselves against an overwhelmingly powerful external aggressor. The very name of the law itself speaks to the values that Ukrainians and Americans share: freedom, justice and the right of citizens to determine their own path in the world.
